OUR EXPERIENCE

Holbein Carpentry & Joinery is a family-run business with 70 years of experience across three generations.

Reinhold Holbein began his carpentry training in a small workshop in Dingelstadt, Germany after the Second World War. He completed his training, becoming a Master Carpenter at the remarkable age of 22. This experience of building: carpentry, roofing, foundations etc. inspired his son Winifred from a young age to learn the skills of his father and continued within the next generation towards his sons Oliver, Colm and Robin.

ENVIRONMENT

The visible signs of climate change are influencing the minds of our consumers; increasingly consumers are looking for sustainable products that last a life time.

At Holbein Carpentry & Joinery, we actively try to promote and employ sustainability methods as a company by:

  • Providing local employment, thereby reducing carbon footprint
  • Using Irish manufactured products and sustaining local supply chains, where possible
  • Reducing our use of paper by moving towards paperless quotations and online client questionnaires
  • Move towards more sustainable and less impactful materials

By its nature, carpentry uses timber as its core material which is a natural carbon sink. By using the right inputs, processes, and final outputs, less waste is guaranteed.

OUR FUTURE

Within the Irish & greater European woodworking industry, there is a general consensus that crafts people are fast becoming a rare commodity. In the future, we at Holbein Carpentry & Joinery aim to further develop the training aspect of our company, to equip young people with carpentry and joinery skills.

We aim to secure Holbein Carpentry & Joinery for our future generations, and for the community of Kenmare. We would also like to expand further into tour groups for the public to showcase our craft and its history through a joinery visitor centre.

A priority of Holbein Carpentry & Joinery is to exceed the expectations of our customers. We continuously reflect on and analyze our work to improve our services, with the aim of offering better and better customer experiences in the future and to build a business, that runs itself through systems and procedures.

As an aid to ensure, we rocket forward in a straight clear vision, our audacious goal is to build 10,000,000 homes on Mars. Oliver’s plan is to retire at 114.
